Blogs in 2019: The good, the bad and the promise

Happy new year! 2019 was such a busy year that I did not manage to blog much – only 6 blogs in 12 months. That’s an all-time low since I started blogging in July 2013.

The good news is that my blogs got more traffic than ever before! So here’s the rundown of the best-read blogs of 2019 – and the best-read blogs in 2019.

Best-read 2019 blogs

The thematic blogs were the best-read blogs: circularity, purpose and the Sustainable Development Goals.

#3: Planet Earth is a beautiful circular business model. A growing number of organizations is joining the movement from linear to circular business models. This blog provides insights into how carpeting company Interface and the Dutch government are embracing the opportunities of circularity.

#2: An interactive event at Nyenrode business university concluded that to drive societal, long-term value creation, companies need a clear purpose. As well as more creativity and diversity, perhaps even an artist on their board. This blog combines the foresight of artists, the power of purpose and a call for accountability.

#1: The Sustainable Development Goals can be quite abstract for people and companies. The SDG Dome, built by PwC Netherlands, literally brings them closer. This blog describes the highlights of a visit to this dome. It also provides insights into the adoption of the SDGs by Dutch companies as well as access to practical tools to select SDGs for your organization.

Interestingly, in 2019, a lot of traffic came to older blogs. Here’s the top 5:

With Simon Sinek on tour to promote his new book, the number one on this list is hardly a surprise. Yet the other ones are less clear to me as to why they got so much traffic in 2019. But it does provide me a great incentive to start writing more in 2020. Let me know if you have any suggestions for topics to explore or revisit in the new year ahead! I’d love to hear from you.
