Consuming with a conscience

On YouTube and Facebook, millions of people are watching and talking about Chipotle’s new infomercial, which raises many questions about factory farming. If you haven’t seen it take a look, as it is beautifully done.

It blends Frank Baum’s “The Wizard of Oz“, Dr, Seuss’ “The Lorax” and Jonathan Safran Foer’s “Eating Animals“. We are certainly not in Kansas anymore: people need to wake up and understand what the impact of their food really is. I hope it inspires millions of people to think about where their food comes from and what the impact is of growing, transporting and storing food.

Some of the online discussion on Chipotle centers about the quality of Chipotle’s food, but fortunately most of it is about creating more awareness of what you eat – and feed your family. I hope the message carries far!

As a little extra, here’s an interesting infographic about factory versus sustainable farming. Thought provoking, but as the data are not really comparable, it raises as many questions as it answers…..
